This guide explains how to complete your identity verification form by starting on your desktop, then switching to your mobile phone to take your ID photos.
Before you start
- You need your mobile phone and a passport, driver licence, or national ID card.
- We only accept clear photographs. Scans and photocopies aren't accepted.
- If you're currently residing in China, Chinese data laws mean you can't access this electronic form. See About the identity verification form for manual verification options.
Get started
- Open the email with your verification form link.
- Select Verify [name]'s ID.
- Once the form opens, click Get started.
Consent
- Click the tick box to turn it green. This gives consent for First AML to verify your information electronically.
- Click I accept.
Select your country and ID type
- Click the white box and select the country your ID is from. Scroll the list or start typing to search.
- Select Passport, Driver Licence, or National ID, depending on which document you're using.
- Click Next.
Let's verify your identity
- Click Next.
Submit your ID
- To take your ID photos with your phone, click Continue on phone.
- To upload photos already saved on your desktop instead, click or upload photo and follow How to complete the identity verification form: desktop.
Continue on phone
- Click Get secure link.
Move to your mobile
Choose how to open the form on your phone. If you're not familiar with QR codes, we recommend the SMS option.
QR code
- Open your phone's camera.
- Point it at the QR code shown on your screen.
- Tap the prompt that appears on your phone to continue.
Get link via SMS (recommended)
- Click Get link via SMS.
- Enter your mobile number.
- Open the text message on your phone and tap the link.
Copy link
- Click Copy link, then Copy.
- Send the link to yourself (for example, by email or messaging app) so you can open it on your phone.
- Paste the link into your phone's browser.
Link your mobile and desktop
Once your phone is linked to your desktop, your desktop and phone screens show different steps at the same time. On your mobile, click Next.
Take and review your ID photo
- Place your ID on a flat surface in a well-lit area.
- Tap Take photo.
- Check your photo. If it's clear, tap Upload. If not, tap Redo and try again.
(NZ driver licence only) Take and review the back of your licence
- Turn your licence over.
- Tap Take photo.
- Check your photo. If it's clear, tap Upload. If not, tap Redo and try again.
Record your video
- Tap Record video, then Enable camera.
- Tap Allow to give camera and microphone access.
- Position your face within the oval frame.
- Tap the red camera icon to start recording.
- Your screen shows three digits — say each one out loud, then tap Next step.
- Turn your head left or right as instructed, then face forward, and tap Finish recording.
- Review your video. Tap Upload if you're happy with it, or Redo to record again.
- Return to your desktop or computer.
Confirm and finish on desktop
- Back on your desktop, click Submit verification, then Next.
- Check your ID details, which fill in automatically.
- Enter your personal details: contact details, citizenship, and address. Click each field to bring up the keypad.
- Once every field is complete, click Submit.
Form complete
Once you've submitted your form, you'll see a confirmation screen.
