This guide explains how to complete your identity verification form using your mobile phone, from start to finish.


Note for individuals residing in China

Due to Chinese data laws, if you are currently residing in China you will be unable to access your electronic identity verification form. See About the identity verification form for manual verification options.


Before you start

  • You need your mobile phone and your passport, driver licence, or national ID card handy.
  • We only accept clear photographs taken with your phone's camera, not screenshots or images from your gallery.


Get started

  1. Open the email with your verification form link.
  2. Select Verify [name]'s ID.
  3. Once the form opens, tap Get started.

    Please note the video below does not have an audio.

  1. Tap the tick box to turn it green. This gives consent for First AML to verify your information electronically.
  2. Tap I accept.


Select your country and ID type

  1. Tap the white box and select the country your ID is from. Scroll the list or start typing to search.
  2. Select Passport, Driver Licence, or National ID, depending on which document you're using.
  3. Tap Next.


Let's verify your identity

  1. Tap Next.


Take a photo of your ID

  1. Tap Take photo.
  2. Position your ID within the frame and take the photo.
  3. Check your photo. If it's clear, tap Upload. If not, tap Redo and try again.


(NZ driver licence only) Take a photo of the back of your licence

  1. Turn your licence over.
  2. Tap Take photo.
  3. Check your photo. If it's clear, tap Upload. If not, tap Redo and try again.


Record your video

  1. Tap Record video, then Enable camera.
  2. Tap Allow to give camera and microphone access.
  3. Position your face within the oval frame.
  4. Tap the red camera icon to start recording.
  5. Your screen shows three digits - say each one out loud.
  6. Turn your head left or right as instructed, then face forward, and tap Finish recording.
  7. Review your video. Tap Upload if you're happy with it, or Redo to record again.
  8. Tap Next.


ID details

  1. Check your ID details, which fill in automatically: ID, licence or passport number; version number (NZ licence only); expiry date; first name; middle name (if any); last name; date of birth.
  2. Tap Next.


Other details

  1. Enter your contact details, citizenship, and address. Tap each field to bring up the keypad.
  2. Once every field is complete, tap Submit.


Form complete

Once you've submitted your form, you'll see a confirmation screen.
